Not even gona lie but I sing the first verse and chorus to this song everyday in my car…. R.I.P Ms. Etta James and thank you for being my first taste of real soul <3

this news, along with one other, is a sign. its time to close one chapter so that i can finally start this next one — FORREAL THIS TIME.

I remember when I first started to get really into singing, one of the songs that I wanted to perfect was “At Last”. It took a while but after hearing Etta James’ voice countless times, and hearing that she sang from her heart, made me want to do the same thing. I listened to this song a million + more times and I honestly felt like she was talking to me…telling me to just get out of my comfort zone and sing from my heart.

Thank you Miss Etta James…for sharing your amazing voice. Yours was truly a voice of gold.
